HOW TO STOP VERIZON CELL ANTENNAS FROM INVADING OUR NEIGHBORHOOD?

COME TO THE COMMUNITY MEETING  APRIL 1ST.  WE WON'T BE FOOLED DAY!

ADDRESS:  6026 IDAHO ST., OAKLAND

Maria Kim, the applicant from Complete Wireless hired by Verizon,  agreed to a community meeting and will be answering questions.  We will also have our own speaker who has fought these battles.  Concerned about noise levels? Radio frequency? Fire hazards?  Nuisance problems?  Decreased home values?    It is important for the neighbors of the Golden Gate to show up ask questions and represent.  Verizon, AT&T and other telecommunications company are coming to a roof top near you.  We do have the power to fight back. Corporations, the railroad, businesses not suitable for residential neighborhoods, have been coming into the Golden Gate for years without input from the people who live here 24/7.   This has  a negative impact on our communities environmentally, physically, personally to our health and well being and financially. We are zoned HBX1 which means mixed use but it doesn't mean to the detriment of residents.

We believe this project is not compatible with our neighborhood.

Come out to Phat Beets Tomorrow!, Buy Fresh Produce, Enjoy Delicious Food, and Sign our Petition to Stop the Cell Antennas!

Come on out to Phat Beets Farmers Market tomorrow.

Its a great place to hang, buy produce and wonderful home-made vinegars, soaps, etc, and to eat great food!  We'll be there with our Petition to Stop the Cell Antennas from being built at 960 Arlington Avenue.  We hope to see you there!

Here's The Latest....

*The Owner of 960 Arlington Avenue has refused to speak with the community, at least to those of us who attempted to reach out to him.  He does say he hasn't yet signed a contract with Verizon, so hopefully he will reconsider, and do the right thing for the neighborhood!

*The Board of Supervisors of LA County have ruled to Halt the Construction of Cell Towers & Antennas  on dozens of Fire Stations in LA., and 177 locations in total, saying there are too many unanswered questions regarding the risks they pose.

*See The Verizon Alternative Site Analysis, Conditional Use Permit, and Project Support Statement document on the Right Side-Bar.  In particular check out the conditional use permit.

*150 Have Now Signed the Petition to Stop the Verizon Cell Tower from Being Installed....!  More Coming.  Way to Step Up People!

Dr. Joel Moskowitz, Professor at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health and Researcher on the Effects of Electro-Magnetic Frequencies and RF, in an eMail to our group, said,

"Thousands of people have fought the proliferation of wireless radiation in their communities. Although some win their battle, most lose. To save our children, and protect the vulnerable and elderly, we must empower communities. People must organize across communities and fight the powerful economic interests that want to infiltrate every aspect of our lives with wireless technology. The proliferation of wireless radiation is producing major health consequences for our society.  For more information see my EMR Safety web site.

Cities are beginning to fight back. See the most recent post on my saferEMR Facebook page: Woodside Town Council considers joining national lawsuit against FCC over cell tower rules. Berkeley will soon take on the CTIA with a cell phone "right to know" ordinance.  What about Oakland?"

What About Oakland?!

Please join us April 1st at the Community Meeting with neighbors and a Verizon consultant.  Verizon is the applicant for the plan.  The meeting will take place between 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Downs United Methodist Church, 6026 Idaho Street, Oakland CA 94608

And plan to attend the Planning Commission Hearing April 15th, at 6:00 p.m. at Oakland City Hall, One Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Hearing Room No. 1, Oakland

SUPPORT IS BUILDING TO STOP THE CELL ANTENNAS!

Hello Neighbors,

It was a beautiful day yesterday at Phat Beets farmers market.  Thanks kindly to Max Cadji for allowing us to set up a table there!  Many signed the petition, took fliers, and will check out our website to get more information.  Support is building:  So far at least 125 people have signed either the paper or online petition!  We're making our voices heard; the only way we're going to stop Verizon's incursion into our neighborhood is from the ground up,  by people coming together to say No!  We don't want this in a residential community!  Concentrated Cell Antenna Farms are not compatible with residential neighborhoods!

We have the power to stop this project; its really up to us.  Please circulate our web address to your circle and encourage your friends and family to sign our petition, and come to the Community Meeting on Wednesday, April 1st @ Downs United Methodist Church, 6026 Idaho Street, Oakland 94608 between 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.  Verizon Rep Maria Kim will be there, as well as the City Planner responsible for this project, Jason Madani.

Also, please come to the Planning Commission Hearing on 4/15 @ 6:00 p.m. at Oakland City Hall, One Frank Ogawa Plaza, Hearing Room #1.

We have the right and the power to protect our neighborhoods!
